Bali Visa Requirements
What are the visa requirements to enter Bali you ask? Well, the visa requirements for Bali can be quite challenging to find due to the limited information available and frequent changes in the required documents. We recently went through the customs in Bali in May 2024, and once again, the requirements had changed compared to our previous visit in May 2023. Therefore, we have created this blog post to help fellow travellers easily find and complete the visa process without any stress.
The requirements to enter Indonesia are down below;
A Valid passport: In order to enter Indonesia and visit Bali, traveler’s must ensure that their passports meet certain criteria to be deemed valid. Firstly, the passport must have a validity of at least six months from the date of arrival. Moreover, it should have at least one blank page for the placement of entry stamps. Additionally, the passport must be in a well-maintained condition, free from any damage such as tears, water damage, or excessive wear, as such issues often result in denied entry.
Visa On Arrival/ Electronic Visa On Arrival: Tourists who plan to visit Bali are obligated to obtain a Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) in order to travel within Indonesia for a period of up to 30 days. This visa can be easily acquired upon arrival at the Bali international airport, and in exchange, a payment of 500,000 IDR ($50 AUD) is required per person. It is worth noting that this visa can be extended once for an additional 30 days, allowing a total stay of up to 60 days in Indonesia. To extend the validity of the VoA, visitors must personally apply at an Indonesian immigration office and pay a specified fee.

Bali Tourism Tax: Starting from February 14, 2024, a fresh tourism tax had been implemented for foreign nationals visiting Bali, with the exception of individuals from Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries such as Thailand and Vietnam. This tax, commonly known as the Bali tourist levy, amounts to 150,000 IDR ($15 AUD) per person. The introduction of this tax by the Indonesian government aims to promote sustainability in tourism on the island. Travellers have the choice to conveniently make cashless payments in advance through the love Bali website or upon arrival at designated payment counters situated at Bali’s airport and seaport. It is important to note that the Bali Tourism Tax is an additional fee, separate from the 500,000 IDR ($50 AUD) Visa on Arrival or e-Visa on Arrival requirment.
Electronic Customs Declaration Form: The Electronic Customs Declaration Form (ECD) is a mandatory requirement for all travellers visiting Bali. It must be completed either at the airport or online, no later than 48 hours prior to arrival. Whether or not you are bringing in any goods, it is essential to fill out the ECD form.
