Bali Visa Requirements
What are the visa requirements to enter Bali? Finding the correct information can be challenging due to frequent changes. For instance, during our recent customs experience in Bali in May 2024, we noticed updates compared to May 2023. Therefore, this blog post aims to help fellow travelers navigate the visa process easily.
The requirements to enter Indonesia are down below;
Valid Passport
First and foremost, travelers must ensure their passports meet specific criteria to enter Indonesia and visit Bali. The passport must have a validity of at least six months from the arrival date and include at least one blank page for entry stamps. Additionally, the passport should remain in good condition, free from tears, water damage, or excessive wear. Such issues can result in denied entry.

Visa on Arrival / Electronic Visa on Arrival
Moreover, tourists visiting Bali need a Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) to travel within Indonesia for up to 30 days. You can easily acquire this visa at Bali International Airport for a payment of 500,000 IDR ($50 AUD) per person. Importantly, the VoA can be extended once for an additional 30 days, allowing for a total stay of up to 60 days. To extend the VoA, visitors must apply in person at an Indonesian immigration office and pay a fee.

Bali Tourism Tax
Starting February 14, 2024, the government implemented a new tourism tax for foreign nationals visiting Bali, with the exception of individuals from ASEAN countries like Thailand and Vietnam. This tax, known as the Bali tourist levy, costs 150,000 IDR ($15 AUD) per person. The Indonesian government introduced this tax to promote sustainability in tourism. Consequently, travelers can make cashless payments in advance through the Love Bali website or upon arrival at designated payment counters at Bali’s airport and seaport. Please note that the Bali Tourism Tax is separate from the 500,000 IDR ($50 AUD) Visa on Arrival fee.

Return or Onward Ticket
In order to comply with immigration regulations, visitors to Bali must provide proof of their intention to leave Indonesia within the visa period. Presenting a return or onward ticket, if requested, satisfies this requirement. Immigration officials use this information to verify that tourists do not intend to exceed their visa duration.
Covid Vaccination
As of June 9, 2023, Australian travelers entering Bali no longer need to provide proof of full Covid-19 vaccination. Previously, a vaccination certificate was necessary; however, this requirement has been lifted.
